This, he decided, was an ideal place to set up camp, and news of its idyllic setting and legendary champagne-air soon spread: the region was set to become the “Riviera of the South”. A mere 140km from the Cape Metropole, Hermanus owes its success to its scenic beauty, mild climate and range of cultural and outdoor attractions.
